One country between two nations: Essence and Traditions of the Basque Country

Arrival in San Sebastián and you move on our own to the accommodation hotel for the first night. Take free time to visit the old city where you Will find the world famous  “Pintxo” or “ Tapa” , the unique miniature food based on excellent  raw materials .  The  establisment , also called Bar,   have the counters   plenty of  this excellet  and varied food.

This first stage, departing from San Sebastián, will take us to the old and charming fishing village of Pasajes San Juan, which we will access by boat. Ascent by road to Jaizkibel Mountain pass (500 meters approx.) Descend to the fortified town of Hondarribia.

Last point before leaving Spain and crossing the river Bidasoa and to reach the Basque land in France.

Accommodation

After crossing the Bidasoa river, we take the bike paths next to the beach and you will ride along the coastal road, called “La corniche”, towards the charming town of Saint Juan de Luz. Visit of this typically Basque town. You will continue along local roads and near the Basque coastl crossing the villages of Guetary, Bidart until reaching the glamour and nice town of Biarritz.

Accommodation.

Leaving Biarritz in the morning, we will continue along the Eurovelo local road, that goes paralell the coast until reaching Bayona village , the capital of the French Basque Country. Then we will approch the Adour river , located in the north of the city. We will continue along the bicycle paths that runs parallel to the river until we will reach the point where we will take the inland road passing through the traditional Basque Villages and arriving to the charming village of Ainhoa.

Departure from Ainhoa Village by road and we will pass through the small French villages near the Pyrenees mountains. We visit the small and flirty town of Sara and will continue the route crossing the Pyrenees mountains in order to descend to the town of Bera del Bidasoa, a Navarran town in Spain. We willl take the Bidasoa Greenway that will take us to the Border town of Irun. In this village we will take the train in order to come back to San Sebastián . *
