Self Guided Girona Gravel Bike Tour

Delivery of the GPS and necessary documentation in our office. Bike fitting if bikes are rented. The firs day we will discover the inland country side of Ter river with his big ancient farms. We will follow west direction to Anglès by the Ter river, in Bonmatí we will cross the river. Then we climb to Mas Llunes descending south to the ancient volcano La Crosa. Finally we will come back to Girona by the fields near the city.

We will start the second stage cycling by the ancient train rails that now a days a bike path (the Greenway). When we arrive at Llambilles, we will head to Girona plain, where we will pass through the corn fields , farmhouses and small churches like Mare de Deu del Remei, between Campllong and Sant Andreu Salou. After the fields , when we reach Llagostera we will return in to the Greenway and we will go to Sant Feliu de Guixols.

This stage is practically flat, only a strong rise at the beginning of the day. We will start the route going to the magnificent virgin beach at the end of the River Ter. Then we will go to the port of l’Estartit and we will head for the interior where we will start the day’s climb in the direction of L’Escala, before we will turn off at Punta del Milà, where we will enjoy magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea . Once in L’Escala the whole route is flat passing through the Empordà plain to Castelló d’Empuries.

This is the hardest stage , but it will make us enjoy the best views. We come to Castelló in the direction of Empuriabrava, a village with navigable canals. Then we will go to Roses, where we will go to the beach of Alamadrava, going across the seafront. There we will begin the great uphill of the day, first pass through the tower of the Sastre and finally arriving at the summit of Puig Alt. Once there, we will cross a long descent that will lead us to a plain of vineyards and olive groves passing through the villages of Pau and Vilajuiga and later on by the medieval village of Peralada. Finally, crossing the fields, we will arrive at Figueres.

Last stage of the tour. This stage is divided into two very different areas. The first one is very flat through the fields and the second part very mountainous by the Gavarres. We will go out of Figueres passing through fields and small villages such as Vilamalla, Siurana or Camallera. We continue crossing fields until arriving at Bordils, there we will go to Sant Martí Vell where we will begin a climb towards the interior of the Gavarres, we will ascend to the sanctuary of the Angels. Once above we will indicate the descent towards the valley of Sant Daniel that will make us arrive to Girona directly to the heart of the downtown, where you can have dinner at one of the good restaurants in the downtown and enjoy the final of the tour
